graduation 1

As usual, much has passed since I last posted. What's to be done, there's no going back; though I did have some very interesting thoughts on graham crackers I had wanted to write about. Oh well.

So... tonight is my first of two master's degree graduation ceremonies. I specify what kind of graduation it is so as not to confuse it with the Dietetic Internship graduation which will occur later in this July (woo). I'll mention it now in case I flake on writing about it later.

So... tonight. Yes. Well. First of all, my parents are in town for the week, and it is wonderful. They came in on Saturday, so we were able to celebrate Mother's day and my dad's 65th birthday together. I took them on a 3-hour cruise around the isle of Manahatta, then dinner at the Neptune Room on the upper west side. Yum.

So... tonight. I keep getting distracted. Tonight I am marching in a Columbia blue gown with funny wings that are supposed to connote my level of mastery (forgive the pun). The ceremony is in the historical, beautiful, Riverside Church. Reception and stuff to follow, I suppose.

Though I did the whole graduation thing back at Berkeley, it was all very anticlimactic since I'd graduated 6 months earlier, had been working for 6 months, and had a dance career that kept me busy and traveling around the world. It really didn't phase me; my mind was elsewhere.

This is different. I chose this. I paid for this (and will be for years to come). I earned this. I did it.

So, though I have no more energy to write, it is enough to record now that I feel I have accomplished something that I am proud of.
