a few things that struck my fancy

On a wintry Thursday afternoon of a pseudo-spring April morning, I began my ascent from the depths of the 168th street subway. As I was climbing the last set of stairs before truly breathing "fresh" air, I was distracted by a young man yelling, "read all about it, new taxi cabs for NYC, read all about it". It pleased me somehow, to know that the phrase "read all about it" was being used with no sense of irony by this modern urban newsie of the 21st century.

I've realized that making lists works for me. I had strayed from my tried-and-true method of staying abreast of all my work, and look where it has gotten me: I've never felt so anxious, and my cortisol levels are likely through the roof. No in-house lab, so I can't say for sure, but I've been having anxiety dreams. Not a good sign. I'm back to my lists with their satisfying little check boxes.
