Mindful of Food

There is a hypothesis that the omnivore’s dilemma – sorting through our myriad choices of foodstuffs – is one of the reason’s our (human) brains grew so large.

Some may now rejoice that our relatively large brain capacity can be filled with other things; then there are those of us who are still content to think about food all day long.

A few morsels from my day:

Organic ready-to-burst ripe strawberries from the farm just over the hill blended with easy-on-the-cilia goat milk for a surprisingly refreshing milkshake/smoothie. Presented, though unrequested, by my wonderful mums.

Tacos from Baja Fresh (a chain) that rivals the best Mexican in NYC. Sorry guys, but it’s still true. And Baja Fresh isn’t even all that.

The latest dish Trader Joe’s has been peddling. Tonight we sampled an Indian curry. It was pretty tasty, but does not rival anything in NYC.

Dripping crisp watermelon, several cups worth in a sitting (pre-cut to bite size). When I was even smaller than I am now, I used to cut a huge watermelon in half, wrap my legs around it to keep it steady, and create caverns and staircases with my handy dessert spoon (they have thinner lips, the better to landscape with).
